IT staff augmentation services and dedicated developers

IT staff augmentation services add skilled engineers to your team for a set period. You set the priorities and direct the work, and the engineers join your tools, standups and code reviews. INVENXEN, founded in Lahore, Pakistan in 2020, supplies developers, designers, QA engineers and analysts to clients in Saudi Arabia, Australia and worldwide.

    What is IT staff augmentation?

IT staff augmentation is a staffing model where a vendor supplies skilled people who work inside your team, under your direction, for a set period. You keep control of scope, priorities and code. The people are employed by the vendor, and pricing is often time based, at hourly or daily rates (Wikipedia).

    • On this page, team extension services and team augmentation mean the same model.
    • Your leads direct the daily work: backlog, sprint goals, code review and releases.
    • The engineer works in your systems: your repository, issue tracker, chat and environments.
    • You pay for capacity, not for a fixed deliverable. At INVENXEN that means by the hour or by the month: see pricing.
    • The model works when you already have a technical lead who can assign and review work.

Staff augmentation vs outsourcing vs dedicated team vs managed services

The four models differ in who directs the daily work and what you pay for. With staff augmentation you direct the people, while with project outsourcing and managed services the vendor manages the work. A dedicated development team is a whole team that works only on your product.

    • Staff augmentation: external people work alongside your employees and take day-to-day direction from you (Wikipedia).
    • Outsourcing means a third party performs tasks or services with its own workers, on your site or remotely (TechTarget).
    • A managed service provider handles the day-to-day management of the service and usually bills a flat monthly fee (TechTarget).
    • The table below is our own comparison, for orientation. Contracts vary, so check who manages what in each agreement.
    • INVENXEN offers staff augmentation through Individual Experts and Custom Packages, a pre-built team through Expert-Made Packages, and project delivery through its software services.

Three ways to hire dedicated developers

Hire one specialist, start with a pre-built team, or compose your own. Live rates for every role sit on the pricing pages, shown in USD.

    • Individual Experts fits a single gap: one front-end developer, one designer, one QA engineer.
    • Expert-Made Packages fits buyers who want a balanced squad without designing it.
    • Custom Packages fits team extension where you already know the roles and hours.

Which roles can you add to your team?

Engineering, design, quality and analysis roles. Current roles, skills and rate ranges are listed on Individual Experts.

    • Software developers: web, mobile, back end and full stack.
    • UI/UX designers: user research, interface design and design systems.
    • QA engineers: manual testing and test automation.
    • Data and BI analysts: data modeling, dashboards and KPI reporting.
    • Need an ERP rollout rather than one person? See our Odoo ERP implementation service.

    How does onboarding work?

Onboarding moves from a first call to a first sprint in six steps. Start dates depend on the role and on how fast interviews and access happen on your side, so we confirm them with you instead of quoting a standard.

    • Name one lead on your side who assigns and reviews work.
    • Prepare a short onboarding note: architecture, coding conventions, environments and the definition of done.
    • When you compare staff augmentation companies in Pakistan or elsewhere, interview the engineers who will do the work, not only the sales team.

    2. 02We propose engineers whose skills and availability match the role.
    3. 03You interview them. Run your usual technical interview or a short test task.
    4. 04We agree roles, hours and rates in writing before work starts.
    5. 05You grant access to your repository, issue tracker, chat and environments. Add an NDA if your policy requires one.
    6. 06The engineer joins your standups and picks up a first ticket. Review the fit together after the first sprint.

How many working hours overlap with Riyadh and Sydney?

As of October 2026, Lahore runs on Pakistan Standard Time (PKT, UTC+5) all year. That is 2 hours ahead of Riyadh (AST, UTC+3), and 5 hours behind Sydney on AEST (UTC+10) or 6 hours behind on AEDT (UTC+11). On a 9:00 to 17:00 day in both cities, that leaves 6 shared hours with Riyadh and 2 to 3 with Sydney.

    • Pakistan and Saudi Arabia do not observe daylight saving time, so the Riyadh gap stays at 2 hours all year (timeanddate.com).
    • New South Wales daylight saving runs from Sunday 4 October 2026 to Sunday 4 April 2027 (NSW Government).
    • A shifted day adds overlap with Sydney: a 7:00 to 15:00 PKT day shares 4 hours on AEDT and 5 on AEST.
    • Agree shared working days and hours before work starts.

Pakistan's IT services sector in numbers

As of October 2026, the latest full-year figure is for FY2025-26: Pakistan's IT and IT-enabled services exports reached a record USD 4.6 billion, up about 21 percent from USD 3.814 billion in FY2024-25. ProPakistani and TechJuice report the figure from State Bank of Pakistan data, and Pakistan's IT Minister announced the same total (Arab News).

    • Pakistan's fiscal year FY2025-26 ran from July 2025 to June 2026.
    • June 2026 alone brought USD 416 million in IT export receipts (TechJuice, Arab News).
    • The total includes software services, IT consultancy and freelance earnings (ProPakistani, reporting SBP data).
    • Export growth is one signal of how much software work Pakistani teams already deliver for foreign clients.
    • INVENXEN was founded in Lahore in 2020 and is based in Johar Town.

How does staff augmentation sit alongside Saudization?

Saudization rates apply to private-sector establishments in Saudi Arabia, set by profession and by how many workers an establishment has in those professions. If you are comparing IT outsourcing in Saudi Arabia with local hiring, these rates are part of the cost of local hiring. Use augmentation for delivery capacity, not as a way around a rate, and ask HRSD or a qualified adviser how an external engagement is treated for your establishment.

    • Facts below are as of October 2026, from HRSD's published decisions and procedural guides.
    • ICT professions: HRSD's localization decision for communications and IT professions set a 25 percent rate for each of three job groups: ICT engineering, software development and analysis, and technical support. It took effect on 27 June 2021 and applies where an establishment has 5 or more workers in a group (HRSD procedural guide).
    • Covered ICT titles include software engineer, software developer, application developer, web developer, systems analyst and data science specialist (HRSD procedural guide).
    • A Saudi worker counts toward the ICT rate only with a monthly wage registered with GOSI of at least SAR 7,000 in engineering and development roles, or SAR 5,000 in technical support roles (HRSD procedural guide).
    • Engineering professions: HRSD raised the rate for 46 engineering professions in the private and non-profit sectors to 30 percent. The rate took effect on 30 June 2026 for establishments with 5 or more workers in those professions (SPA, HRSD).
    • The engineering decision lists titles such as civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, electronics, marine and aviation engineers. It does not list software roles, which fall under the ICT decision (HRSD procedural guide).
    • The decision also raised the minimum wage for these engineering roles to SAR 8,000. A Saudi engineer counts toward the 30 percent rate only with a monthly wage registered with GOSI of at least SAR 8,000 and Saudi Council of Engineers accreditation (HRSD procedural guide).
    • Both guides apply the rate at entity level, to the job title and to the work a person actually does. Your Nitaqat band does not change the calculation (HRSD procedural guides).
    • Both guides apply penalties when an establishment assigns the tasks of a localized profession to a non-Saudi worker, directly or indirectly, under another job title (HRSD procedural guides).
    • This is general information, not legal advice. Confirm your position with HRSD guidance or a qualified adviser.

When does staff augmentation fit, and when does it not?

Staff augmentation fits when you have direction but not enough hands. If no one on your side can lead the work, project delivery fits better, because the vendor manages the work against an agreed scope.

    • Fits: you have a tech lead, a backlog and a release process.
    • Fits: you need a skill for months, such as data analysis or test automation, rather than a permanent hire.
    • Fits: local hiring for the role is slow, and the roadmap will not wait.
    • Fits: your capacity needs change by role as the roadmap changes.
    • Does not fit: no internal owner to set priorities or review code. See our services for project delivery, or talk it through on a free call.

    Questions, answered

    What is staff augmentation?

Staff augmentation is a model where a vendor supplies skilled people who join your team and work under your direction for a set period. You keep control of priorities, code and releases. The vendor employs the people, and pricing is often by the hour or the day. At INVENXEN you pay by the hour or by the month.

What is the difference between staff augmentation and outsourcing?

The difference is control. With staff augmentation you direct the engineers and own the outcome. With project outsourcing the vendor manages the work and delivers an agreed scope. Choose augmentation when you have a lead and a backlog, and outsourcing when you want a finished deliverable.

Staff augmentation or a dedicated development team: which should I choose?

Choose staff augmentation to fill specific gaps in a team you already run. Choose a dedicated development team when you need a whole squad that works only on your product. INVENXEN offers Individual Experts and Custom Packages for augmentation, and Expert-Made Packages for a pre-built team with set roles and monthly hours.

How is staff augmentation different from managed services?

A managed service provider handles the day-to-day management of a service, such as IT infrastructure, and usually bills a flat monthly fee. Staff augmentation hands over no management: you get capacity and you direct it. Managed services suit steady operations, and augmentation suits building.

What is a staff augmentation contract?

It is a services agreement that sets the roles, hours, rates and term of the engagement. A sound contract also covers notice periods, confidentiality, data protection, ownership of the work and how a person can be replaced. Check for these clauses in any vendor's agreement before you sign.

Which country should I hire dedicated developers from?

Choose the country whose working day overlaps yours and whose engineers know your stack, then compare cost. On a 9:00 to 17:00 day, Pakistan shares 6 working hours with Riyadh and 2 to 3 with Sydney. As of October 2026, Pakistan's latest full-year IT and IT-enabled services exports were a record USD 4.6 billion in FY2025-26, according to State Bank of Pakistan data reported by ProPakistani.

How fast can an augmented developer start?

There is no standard start time. Start dates depend on the role, seniority and how fast interviews and system access happen on your side, so we confirm a date with you once those are clear.

How much does IT staff augmentation cost?

Cost depends on role, seniority and monthly hours. INVENXEN lists hourly rates per role on Individual Experts, monthly packages on Expert-Made Packages, and a live monthly total for custom teams on Custom Packages. All rates are shown in USD.
